Description SUMMARY Troubleshoots and repairs appliances, air conditioning, heating, electrical and mechanical, plumbing systems installed in, or pertinent to utility and construction type facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Determines from blueprints, drawings, plans, sketches, and other specifications or from personal knowledge, type, and quantities of material and equipment required. Selects and facilitates efficient work procedures. Repairs or replaces floors, ceilings, sills, joists, rafters, siding, roofing, stairways, doors, door hardware, windows, screens and glass, and other general building items. Possess competent knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment used. Repairs and replaces piping systems and fixtures including opening clogged drains. Examines and repairs electric circuits and components. Repairs damaged plaster surfaces of walls and ceilings matching existing surfaces. Repairs damaged concrete and other masonry defects. Repairs and paints any areas required. Examines, diagnoses, and repairs all components of all major appliances Diagnoses and evaluates problems - apply chemicals as instructed by the chemical manufacturer using proper safety and application equipment. Maintains accurate records. Maintains pools, chemicals, circulations system, and safety equipment and rules according to established guidelines. Follow all safety guidelines. On-call, overtime, after-hours, and weekend work hours required as needed. Performs additional assignments as directed. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing various systems including appliances, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. They also perform general building repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
