We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to help us maintain safe, welcoming facilities where families and individuals can grow, learn, and thrive together. Position Overview The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring our YMCA facilities operate safely and efficiently. You'll be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our buildings, grounds, and specialized equipment including pools, fitness areas, and program spaces. This position supports our mission by creating clean, safe environments where community members of all ages can pursue their wellness goals. What You'll Do Facility Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine and preventative maintenance on building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and pool equipment Complete work orders efficiently and document all maintenance activities Conduct regular facility inspections and address safety concerns promptly Assist with contractor coordination and bid processes for major repairs Equipment & Safety Management Maintain and repair fitness equipment, ensuring member safety Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and tools Follow all OSHA safety protocols and participate in required training Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed Member Experience Support Interact professionally with members and address facility concerns Support housekeeping efforts to maintain clean, attractive spaces Wear required identification and represent the YMCA's values in all interactions Collaborate with program staff to minimize disruptions during maintenance Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent Technical/trade school certification preferred 1+ years of facility maintenance experience Background in skilled trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC) Must pass criminal background check and meet YMCA safety standards Skills & Abilities Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment Strong communication skills for member and staff interactions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable with maintenance tracking software Reliable response to emergency situations and on-call duties Calm demeanor under pressure Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds Comfortable working at heights using ladders and scaffolding Capable of working in confined spaces and various weather conditions Able to handle chemical compounds safely and follow proper protocols Stamina for extended periods of physical work including reaching, kneeling, and twisting Why Work at the YMCA?
