ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH   MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN   Reports to: Pastor, Parish Administrator, and Head of Maintenance   FLSA:  Hourly Non-Exempt Full Time     POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides comprehensive grounds maintenance, light building maintenance and janitorial services for the parish and cemetery grounds. The work schedule will be 5 days per week not to exceed 40 hours in one week with occasional night and weekend hours required.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   * Assure grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner. * Responsible for mowing, edging, weeding, mulching, leaf removal, brush removal, trimming small tress, planting and weeding flower beds, debris removal, etc. * Assure the church and other parish properties are maintained in a clean and orderly manner, by mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, and washing windows. * Perform minor maintenance at all parish properties, including painting, changing light bulbs and AC filters, minor carpentry, and trash removal. * Provide general assistance with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and dance floor for events. * Responsible for the removal of trash after events as needed. * Work in the cemetery grounds as needed. * Any other duties as assigned.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES   * Experience in minor repair work in carpentry and painting. * Previous experience maintaining grounds, parking lots, and roads. * Ability to lift 50 pounds. * Ability to bend, lift, reach and stand for the duration of shift. * Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities. * Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.   COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of leadership, vendors, employees, and the general public.  Must have average computer skills, including aptitude with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
