ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
ABOUT US AND SCOPE OF ROLE
Dublin Port Company is a State-owned commercial entity with responsibility for the development and operation of Dublin Port. As Ireland’s largest freight and passenger port, we handle nearly 50% of national trade. Dublin Port operates in a highly competitive environment, providing essential national infrastructure as a Tier 1 port under National Ports Policy and part of the EU TEN-T Core Network.
Located at the heart of Dublin City and connected to the national road and rail networks, we are central to Ireland’s economic and logistical ecosystem. We are currently progressing our Masterplan towards 2040, with significant investment in infrastructure, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Dublin Port is the busiest port in Ireland, with approximately 16,500 vessel movements annually and 75% of all cargo transported via Ro-Ro and Bulk Liquid modes. The Engineering Function is responsible for managing critical infrastructure across the 260-hectare estate, including marine assets, quay walls, petroleum offloading systems, aids to navigation, utilities, and electrical distribution and emergency power systems.
The Maintenance Technician will support the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Function who deliver high-quality maintenance and inspection services on a 24/7/365 basis. This role is essential to ensuring the continuous availability of key infrastructure and systems across the port. Technicians will work as part of a self-managed shift team, reporting to Technical Supervisors, and will interface with the wider maintenance group. Responsibilities include reactive, planned, and preventive maintenance of both critical and non-critical operational assets. These assets include, but are not limited to: ro-ro ramps, tugs, pilot boats, aids to navigation, firefighting systems, backup generators, and systems supporting sustainable resource use such as energy and water. The role requires the use of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Technicians will operate to the highest safety and environmental standards, contributing to a reliable, cost-effective, and customer-focused maintenance service.
