Maintenance Technician Graphic Packaging International, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading provider of packaging solutions for a wide variety of products to food, beverage and other consumer products companies. The Company is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and holds a leading market position in coated-unbleached Kraft board and coated-recycled board. One of its facilities is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for the Fort Smith, AR plant that is part of the Consumer Products Division Maintenance Technician Shift is 12-hour nights - 6:45 pm to 7 am - rotating 4 nights on and 4 nights off Shift includes weekends, holidays and frequent overtime required. We are a Tobacco Free Facility inside and outside for 12-hour shift. Position Purpose Performs journeyman level electrical/mechanical troubleshooting installations and repairs. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities as assigned. These tasks are done to ensure that equipment and buildings are maintained to a high level of dependability. Daily supervision may be required to assure that specific job assignments are completed in a safe and timely fashion. To ensure that work performed is a present skill level and abilities are present to advance to a higher craft level in the future. Job Functions Works in a safe manner and assures co-workers work in a safe manner. Reports safety hazards immediately to appropriate individual. Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in annual safety training programs. Troubleshoots and repairs production and support equipment experiencing electrical or mechanical problems. Performs electrical/mechanical component replacement, assuring compliance with work order instructions. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as directed. Resolves electrical/mechanical emergency breakdowns on equipment to minimize downtime. Performs electrical/mechanical installations as directed. Maintains adequate records of work performed on equipment and corrective action taken. Displays good work habits that will set good examples for co-workers. Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well organized. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5’s and other company standards. Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork). Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes. Performs all other duties as assigned. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations. Job Specifications High school diploma/equivalent is required. Preferred: Eighteen- (18) month’s technical training in industrial electricity/electronics and mechanical. Specialized knowledge of voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters is preferred. Preferred experience in welding (all), fabrication, machining. Preferred experience working on presses, conveyors, balers blowers, pneumatics/hydraulics. Physical/ Mental Requirements: May require overtime and holiday work. Will need to work 12-hour night shift, 4 days on, 4 days off. Subject to call-ins at short notice. Working environment may be noisy, odorous, hot, cold, or otherwise uncomfortable. Some jobs involve hazardous materials, gas pressures, or high voltage. Ability to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder and at the waist or lower, twist, stretch, push/pull with force up to 50 lbs.
