Green Isle Foods is a well-established food processing manufacturer that has been in operation since 1959.
We are now looking for a maintenance technician to work on our site based in Gurteen, Co Sligo. (Eircode: F56 PC62)
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery, utility systems, and general site infrastructure across both day and evening shifts. The role also includes operation and upkeep of the wastewater treatment facility, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. The technician will provide callout support for out-of-hours issues and may be required to work weekends for upgrade projects or repairs that cannot be undertaken during production.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Recognized qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
· 2–3 years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or food processing environment.
· Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operation and compliance requirements (advantage).
· Strong understanding of refrigeration, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

o Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on filleting lines, conveyors, freezing and transfer systems.
o Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
o Minimise production downtime through rapid response to breakdowns.
o Monitor and maintain refrigeration, compressed air, water, and wastewater treatment systems.
o Operate and service wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with discharge permits.
o Investigate and resolve utility failures promptly.
o Carry out general site maintenance: lighting, plumbing, doors, drainage, and building fabric.
o Support continuous improvement in site safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.
o Participate in an on-call rota to respond to urgent breakdowns outside normal working hours.
o Provide weekend support for upgrades, projects, and maintenance tasks that cannot be completed during production runs.
o Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and spare parts usage logs.
o Support audit and compliance requirements relating to HACCP, food safety, health and safety, and environmental management.
6. Continuous Improvement
o Propose and implement improvements to increase plant reliability and energy efficiency.
o Participate in training to develop new technical skills and knowledge.
