Opportunity - Pier 4 Buildings in Hamilton & St. Catherines At Pier 4 our portfolio of multi-family real estate assets is growing and as a result we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team i , Hamilton/St. Catherines Ontario. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who wants to be part of our exciting journey and is truly engaged in being an advocate of and executing, best-in-class property maintenance. We maintain our properties with a focus on revitalization to assure our residents feel comfortable in their homes. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Property Manager and is accountable for preserving the condition of the property and requires you to trouble shoot, repair, install and apply preventative maintenance techniques. Responsibilities Own hand and power tools (they are not provided) and work vehicle. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work orders as assigned. Ensure resident issues and service requests are addressed within 24 hours (minor repairs and maintenance tasks) and regular check-ins with Property Manager as directed. Ability to follow and complete a daily, weekly & monthly task schedule. Repairing and renovating vacant/occupied units and common areas. Performing minor electrical and plumbing work as assigned (examples: lighting replacement, replacing toilets). Cleaning duties, as assigned, which may include litter pick-up, sweeping, snow shoveling/plowing, lawn cutting/exterior maintenance work or other duties assigned by the Property Manager. Basic understanding of all applicable laws, legislation and rights concerning residents/landlord relations. Familiar with the emergency operation of electrical, elevator, boiler, fire panel and safety systems, mechanical systems, sprinkler and timer systems. Available for on-call duties, evenings and weekends. Hours may change based on operational needs. Must be able to handle emergencies occurring after regular office hours. Willing to travel to/among various locations within Southwestern Ontario. Education, Experience and Qualifications Proven relevant plumbing/electrical/carpentry skills. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required. Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and remain detail-oriented. Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Possess and maintain a valid Ontario G driver’s license in good standing (clean driver’s abstract) Eligible to work in Canada (will be subject to a criminal background check). High School Diploma and 5+ years of work-related experience. Previous experience in residential maintenance or related field. WHMIS training, knowledge of applicable legislation respecting residential tenancies in Ontario and the rights and obligations of Landlords and Tenants an asset.
