THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • N6 equivalent with Trade Certificate - Millwright preferably
  • Experience in a high speed, high-tech bottling operation will be advantageous.
  • Completed apprenticeship with a recognized Institution i.e., was registered as an apprentice.
  • More than 5 years relevant practical experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, manuals and schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, motors, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery used in the manufacturing or processing of goods. This role ensures machines operate at optimal performance and includes both preventative and corrective maintenance, meeting safety and quality standards.

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Adherence to Planned and Preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Improving OEE (overall equipment efficiency) on all production lines.
  • Reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance schedules for machinery.
  • Perform machine audits.
  • Downtime tracking.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems to minimize downtime and production loss.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and machine performance.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve machine efficiency.
  • Train operators on machinery operation and safety procedures.
