Description JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician I is an entry level position that can demonstrate the skills needed to complete minor inspection, diagnosis, and problem solving with building operations; perform basic repairs and preventative measures; and maintain facility grounds. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least 1-2 years of general building maintenance experience. Must have High School diploma or GED. Course work or other appropriate trades training is desirable. Groundskeeping and painting experience a plus. No specialized training, certifications or license required. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate. PROFICIENCIES: Technical Proficiency Successful completion of Maintenance Technician I Competency Check Sheet within (90) days of hire Training Technicians in the role will be able to train and complete the Maintenance Technician II Competency Check Sheet after successfully completing six months in Technician I role Troubleshooting The ability to identify the root cause of problems, diagnose malfunctions, and develop effective solutions. Repair and Maintenance Performing routine maintenance tasks like lubricating, cleaning adjusting and replacing parts. Preventative Maintenance Implementing strategies to prevent failures by performing scheduled maintenance tasks and inspections. Safety Knowledge Understanding and adhering to safety protocols and regulations when working with equipment, machinery, and tools. Communication Skills Effectively communicating with colleagues, supervisors, and customers about maintenance issues and tasks. Problem Solving Analyzing situations, identifying issues, and developing and implementing solutions Record Keeping Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and inspections. Time Management Efficiently scheduling and completing maintenance tasks within deadlines. Physical Ability Possessing the physical strength and dexterity needed to perform maintenance tasks. Basic Computer Skills Using computer systems for maintenance planning, record keeping, and accessing technical information. GENERAL SKILLS: Problem Solving Time Management Communications Organizational Skills Attention to Detail Customer Service Knowledge of OSHA, CMS, DNV, The Joint Commission and all regulatory agencies Identify problems and implement solutions. Minor repair to plumbing, machinery and electrical circuitry Work independently in the absence of supervision Operate a personal computer and peripherals. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Reports for scheduled shift on time; prepared to assume duties Reports to work in proper uniform or attire. Adheres to dress code. WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms. May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be scheduled as needed including overtime. May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency. All technicians are required to provide your own hand tools; power tools will be made available by the facility; must be available for on call as needed; have reliable transportation and must be able to respond to the facility in (1) hour or less. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS: Have near normal hearing: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice. Have near normal vision: Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors. Have good manual dexterity. Have good eye-hand foot coordination. Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion. Continuously within shift (67-100%): Standing, Walking. Frequently within shift (34-66%): Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry greater than 20 lbs. with assistance. Occasionally within shift (1-33%): Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry greater than 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder. Performs necessary general building maintenance repairs and services based on the core competencies of the position Perform inspection and maintenance of building and equipment. May assist in stocking, unloading and delivery of supplies Paint interior/exterior walls, cabinets and other surfaces Hang wallpaper, pictures, and wall plaques, bulletin boards Install light bulbs and minor electrical equipment Assist with maintaining security of property Assemble, move and deliver furniture Deliver, remove and store patient beds Operate pallet jack, forklift, golf cart, and riding mowers Maintain grounds to include mowing lawns by riding and hand mowers; trimming; edging Cutting bushes and trees using hand and power tools; Raking and removing leaves, branches and other debris Rounding all grounds to remove trash PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Follows Code of Conduct policy. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. Wears identification when on duty; uses computerized time clock system correctly. Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion. Attends annual review and/or skills fair and department in-services, as scheduled. Attempts to end conversations and other interactions in a positive manner; leaves others with a good impression of the Hospital Authority of Miller County and its employees. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission statement of the organization. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control. Participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
