Description
Responsible for planning, laying out, installing, repairing and maintaining through preventive maintenance practices, all electrical and mechanical components of plant machines and equipment. Keep current with new developments in their respective field, be able to work from complicated drawing, specifications or wiring diagrams and should have a good practical knowledge of electronics. Sometimes requires the direction of part-time helpers and operation of a power truck in performance of duties. Adhere to all facility safety guidelines and encourage communication and participation of personnel to further identify and reduce/eliminate potential hazards. Follow safe practices to avoid injury to self or others including lock-out-tag out if necessary. The incumbent may be required to work on equipment that is at least six feet from floor level, using the proper equipment and safety precautions for fall protection. The mechanic will insure that all guarding or other safety devices will be replaced as required when work is completed. All work must be performed in accordance with National Electrical Code Requirements. Adhere to and support all facility environmental guidelines and procedures to identify additional pollution prevention projects to reduce waste and raw material consumption. The incumbent will also be responsible for organization and cleanliness of the work area, and will support and abide by all procedures set forth to assure product and process quality and plant manufacturing principles. Must have a high school or equivalent from an accredited institution Must have completed a maintenance mechanic apprenticeship, including electrical training, or have equivalent education. Must have a minimum of six months previous experience as a maintenance mechanic with electrical experience in a manufacturing or like environment. Must be able to drive a forklift truck
