Description Responsible for the repairs and maintenance of plant facilities and support equipment at JX1 and JX2, to include: boilers, air compressors, tower water system, pneumatic conveying, presses, resin manufacturing equipment, chemical feed systems, and other equipment. Performs maintenance and repairs for primary production equipment and continuous improvement projects. The expected outcome is to maximize on-stream time for all production equipment and processes in the most cost effective and time efficient manner using JSP’s standard best practices and following all procedures, work instructions and ground rules Requirements Describe its key responsibilities Performs preventative maintenance (PM) tasks according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and the PM schedules. Recommends necessary changes to the PM schedule. Maintenance support of the all departments at JX1 and JX2 to maximize productivity and minimize operational costs while ensuring equipment remains operational and functions as intended. Performs general plant maintenance under direct or indirect supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering team, or Management as required. Performs all tasks and duties in a safe manner, adhering to all safety rules, regulations, and procedures. This includes Lockout Tagout, Working at Heights, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials Handling, and all other applicable OSHA regulations/programs. Maintain logs, charts and other documentation as required for maintenance systems. Utilizes various hand-held meters and other test equipment for checking and troubleshooting, voltage, amps, and calibrations of various control systems. Communicates all pertinent information relating to maintenance activities, or problems incurred during the shift with the Supervisor and the other Maintenance Technicians. Communicates with the other Maintenance Techs on the off shift any information relating but not limited to maintenance support needed in any area throughout the shift. Completes timely repairs and projects, as assigned. General housekeeping for all maintenance locations; maintains work area in clean and neat order. All other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor or designee. Key Skills & Competencies: (List the essential skills and competencies required for success in this role.) Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read and understand technical machine and operation manuals Ability to read and understand diagrams, prints and schematics Able to effectively utilize power tools Excellent understanding of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic devices Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical type equipment Effective communication (reading and writing) and basic math skills Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude A high school diploma or GED is required. 2-4 years’ experience of maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Additional skills, certifications, education or experiences that would be beneficial. Electrical and instrumentation experience Basic OSHA training Welding Certification Boiler Certification Critical Skills Affecting Product Quality and Sustainability Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures that affect product conformity.Understanding of how mechanical/electrical systems impact quality (e.g., pressure, speed, temperature).Proper documentation of maintenance work, including causes and fixes.Collaboration with quality and production teams to validate repairs.Familiarity with lockout/tagout, calibration procedures, and machine capability studies.Preventive maintenance skills to reduce risk of oil, air, or fluid leaks onto products or equipment.Use of appropriate cleaning agents and spill containment procedures.Filter and ventilation system checks to maintain air quality in sensitive areas.Safe storage and disposal of maintenance chemicals to prevent cross-contamination.Maintenance of facility infrastructure that supports controlled environments. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position requires working in an active plant environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Must be able to operate a forklift (certification preferred/required), which involves climbing on and off the equipment, using arm and leg coordination, and having strong depth perception. Physical requirements include standing, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 75lbs. Required PPE includes safety glasses, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes. Employees must be able to work scheduled shifts reliably, including overtime as needed.
