Description Position: Maintenance Technician Status: Part time, non-exempt Reports To: Pastor Summary: St. James Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Missouri is seeking a part time Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for the effective, efficient and safe maintenance, renovation and upkeep of parish and school buildings and grounds. This position is part time averaging 25 hours per week. Essential Duties: Maintain mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and grounds. Conduct preventive maintenance, safety, and energy conservation audits. Oversee part time maintenance and custodial employees and outside contractors. Perform preventive maintenance, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, snow removal and mowing. Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Ensure setup and takedown of meeting spaces per provided instructions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Problem-solve and develop solutions. Build collaborative relationships with employees and outside contractors. Demonstrate efficient and effective organizational skills. Work independently with confidence and minimal managerial oversight. Manage projects on time and within budget parameters. Understand and read technical information. Basic qualifications: Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably with exposure to new and old technology and multiple systems. Strong understanding of general maintenance practices. Able to walk/stand through the day and lift over 50 pounds. Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
