Position Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Whatcom & Skagit County Reports to: Operations and Facilities Specialist II Hours: Up to 19 hours per week, flexible schedule dependent on agency & employee needs, non-exempt Starting Wage Range: $35.00 – $39.78   NWYS Mission At Northwest Youth Services, we affirm youth experience and autonomy as we work together to foster collective healing and justice, in order to dismantle the systems of oppression that perpetuate youth homelessness.   Job Description This position supports the success of NWYS by coordinating and making recommendations for completing an array of repair and maintenance tasks for the organization. This position may provide on-call emergency repair assistance.   Key Responsibilities * Oversee vehicle maintenance needs by assessing service requirements, coordinating with approved vendors and acquiring approvals from supervisor for costs * Perform maintenance and repairs as assigned in an accurate and efficient manner * Research costs and materials for needed repairs and/or replacements and document cost comparisons * Schedule, coordinate, and complete approved repairs and replacements with appropriate staff * Communicate with supervisor as scheduled for updates, support needed and coordinate with licensed trades (i.e. plumbers, electricians) as necessary for licensed work as needed * Communicate with agency leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate completion of maintenance * Attend trainings as required * Conduct routine janitorial duties and maintain property grounds, with additional cleaning tasks performed as needed * Other maintenance duties as assigned   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee is required to frequently sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, climb, or balance.    Minimum Qualifications * 5 years’ relevant experience * Access to a vehicle * Access to tools, including but not limited to drywall equipment, ladder, power tools, carpentry tools, wire crimpers, and basic electrical tools * Ability to tackle a variety of repairs/maintenance requests mostly independently * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to track and log receipts * Background check clearance * Proof of Washington State Driver’s License, driving record, and auto insurance (positions that include driving)   Required within the first 30 days of employment: * Must have negative TB test * Full understanding of the CPS mandatory reporting requirements   Benefits * Earn paid time off based on hours worked * Medical, vision, and dental insurance benefits begin first of the month following date of hire (positions at or above 0.75 FTE) * Voluntary life, critical illness, supplemental vision, long term disability, and accident insurance eligibility begins first of the month following date of hire (positions at or above 0.75 FTE) * Simple IRA Retirement plan with match up to 3% of employee contributions, per pay period, after first year of employment * NWYS sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP) * Annual Healing Fund stipend * Two paid holidays   Northwest Youth Services is an Equal Opportunity employer.
