Mountain Recreation is seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to join our Facilities team as Maintenance Technicians. This position supports the upkeep, maintenance, and safe operation of parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities. As part of the Maintenance Team, this role plays an important part in ensuring our community spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained for daily use, programs, and special events. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION DETAILS Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: District-wide • Eagle Sports Complex (Eagle, CO), Freedom Park (Edwards, CO) Employment Type: Temporary Seasonal • April – September FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible) Schedule: Part-Time or full-time hours available; schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. On-call hours may also be required. Supervision Required: Directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor Supervision Exercised: None Work Environment and Physical Demands: Works indoors at Mountain Recreation facilities and outdoors at sports complexes. The work environment and physical demands described below are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual skills upon passing a language competency test. For more details on employee benefits, visit: https://mountainrec.org/benefits-overview/ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Statement of Duties: This is a temporary seasonal, entry-level position that supports the Maintenance Supervisor in the upkeep, maintenance, and safe operation of parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities. Performs routine operational and maintenance duties to help ensure facilities and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained for public use throughout the season. Examples of Duties: The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required. Cleans and maintains facilities, including complex restrooms, storage sheds, bleachers, concession stands, dugouts, and surrounding grounds. Operates and maintains ground care equipment such as mowers, tractors, string trimmers, sprayers, and limited heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Maintains District athletic fields for practices and games, including dragging, harrowing, watering, aerating, and lining/marking playing surfaces; identifies and addresses safety hazards. Assists with construction and remodeling projects, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, concrete work, excavation, wildlife habitat improvements, and maintenance of upland natural areas. Performs trash and recycling removal, including transporting large items to designated disposal areas. Assists with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and seasonal preparation, including repairing and replacing heads, troubleshooting issues, blowing out lines, aerating turf, and winterizing systems. Assists with setup, operation, and tear-down of special events and District programs. Performs general facility maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and maintaining scoreboards. Installs and maintains field advertising signage, rink dasher boards, fencing, and related signage. Maintains tools and equipment in clean, safe working conditions and reports needed repairs promptly. Assists with inventory control and ensures tools and supplies are properly stored and maintained. Communicates openly and constructively with the Maintenance Supervisor and District staff to support efficient operations and positive team morale. Reports unsafe conditions, hazards, or needed repairs to appropriate personnel immediately. Performs other duties as assigned. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Requirements COMPENTENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Considerable knowledge of: Basic principles, practices, and methods used in park and facility maintenance, repair, and construction. Safe operation and routine maintenance of powered equipment and hand tools commonly used in grounds and facility maintenance. Skills and abilities: Safely operate powered equipment and hand tools in accordance with safety guidelines. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work independently while exercising initiative and sound judgment. Perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and respectful working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public Tools and Equipment Used: Equipment may include, but is not limited to: lawn mowers, string trimmers (weed eaters), utility vehicles (e.g., Gator 2x4), paint sprayers, hand tools, small power tools, and required personal protective equipment (PPE). Requirements: Education and experience Must be at least 16 years of age; AND High school diploma or GED equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school; AND Previous volunteer or work experience in park maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, irrigation technology, construction, or a related field; OR Any satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Certifications Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
