Description Role and Responsibilities Maintains production efficiency and product quality by ensuring proper operation of machinery, mechanical systems, and facility infrastructure to minimize downtime. Responsible for the setup, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of production equipment and building systems within the facility. Production Equipment Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on ovens, packing lines, conveyors, and support equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems. Diagnose electrical issues and perform basic PLC troubleshooting (as applicable). Perform welding repairs (MIG, TIG, Stick) as needed. Respond quickly to production downtime and emergency repairs. Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and line changeovers. Maintain maintenance logs and document repairs accurately. Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce breakdowns. Building Maintenance Responsibilities Perform general facility maintenance including lighting, doors, docks, floors, and structural repairs. Maintain HVAC systems and coordinate external service providers when needed. Repair plumbing fixtures, compressed air lines, and facility piping. Maintain facility safety systems (guarding, rails, building compliance items). Assist with upkeep of exterior grounds including snow removal, dock areas, and parking lot safety. Ensure facility remains compliant with safety and food manufacturing standards. Support inspections and regulatory audits related to facility upkeep. Qualifications and Education Requirements Experience with support equipment (ovens, packing lines, conveyors). Knowledge of plumbing, pneumatics, hydraulics, and cutting. Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Self-starter; able to work independently. Effective communicator 2–5 years’ experience in industrial bakery and/or food manufacturing preferred. Experience in building/facility maintenance strongly preferred. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Walking, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping. Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible hours. Travel Required This position requires traveling to support operations at multiple Bakehouses in the surrounding Chicago suburbs. No overnight travel is required.
