ABOUT THE ROLE

Did you know that our state of the art recycling plant is able to process more items, more efficiently than any other site in the UK? We’re proud to be the most efficient and advanced and we’ve set a new standard in recovering metals, plastics, and gases, processing 100 fridges per hour. That’s around 700,000 per year!
We’re committed to extracting as much value as possible from the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that is thrown away by UK households every year. We’re growing rapidly and with that growth comes exciting new opportunities to innovate, push boundaries, and lead the way in how the UK recycles its electrical appliances.
That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our site Engineering team on our Fridge plant in Telford. As one of AO’s Maintenance Technician’s, you’ll oversee work to the plant, delivering planned maintenance schedules, and getting stuck in with improvement projects to drive the plant’s reliability and keep costs down. Our second site is a fully automated plastic recycling facility where we combine sink-float technology and electrostatic separation to turn mixed fridge plastics into high-quality recycled products.
If you’re energetic, hands-on, passionate, and professional, this one’s for you!

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING

No two days are the same here at AO Recycling, but here’s what a day could look like for you…

  • Working Monday to Friday day shifts
  • Contribute ideas for further optimisation of the plant
  • Get stuck in to engineering project work and play a part in new installations or refurbishments
  • Carrying out equipment commissioning and testing
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments and adopt a ‘clean-as-you-go’ approach to keep our plant super safe
  • Keep an eye out for any malfunctioning equipment and keep site management in the loop
  • Log your daily progress in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Call on your engineering expertise in problem-solving workshops
  • Kick off each day with operational review meetings, providing updates on project engineering/optimisation work
