Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Mechanic) Location: Merrillville, IN Job Type: Direct Hire Required Travel: 50% Travel Required "Must have 24/7 availability for emergencies and be able to travel out of town and state." \n Responsibilities: Repair and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, and other motorized equipment. Follow daily briefings with the Shop Foreman to carry out work assignments. Minimize downtime by ensuring efficient access to parts and tools. Complete work orders timely and accurately, documenting mileage, hours, and repair details. Route emergency repair requests to the Shop Foreman to maintain priority assignments. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Maintain tools and equipment in an orderly fashion. Participate in team-based work assignments to ensure timely repairs. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum of five years of maintenance experience with heavy equipment and/or trailers/cranes. At least five years in two additional technical areas (e.g., hydraulics, electronics, small engines). High School Diploma/GED with trade school or equivalent training in diesel mechanical repair. Strong drive for results and ability to convey urgency. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficient computer skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Physical Demands: Constant bending, twisting, stooping, walking, and lifting. Ability to work in various weather conditions and extended hours. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; assistance required for items over 75 pounds. Required Certifications and Licenses: Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record. Two years of technical/vocational school training and five years of hands-on repair experience. Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Required Travel: Must be available 24/7 for emergencies and able to travel out of town and out of state. \n Subject to a pre-employment drug test and/or background check.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, trucks, and other motorized equipment while minimizing downtime. They will complete work orders accurately and route emergency repair requests to the Shop Foreman.
