We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join the team, based out of our head office at Bayer’s Road Centre in Halifax The Maintenance Technician will perform preventative maintenance, on-site trouble shooting and repairs to commercial buildings. The Maintenance Technician will utilize well-developed building operations skills in areas such as: electrical,

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience of previous maintenance experience
  • A trade or some technical or vocational training is a strong asset.
  • Maintenance experience related to commercial property management is strongly preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Very good general knowledge in electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc.
  • Comfortable using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and job specific equipment in performing duties;
  • Solid understanding of building & operating systems;
  • Promotion of positive customer service and Tenant relations;
  • Comfortable dealing with Tenants, staff and contractors;
  • Ability to make effective technical decisions in emergency situations;
  • Strong team player;
  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Proven problem solving abilities and experience;
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Promptly attend to all Tenant service requests as directed by the Property Manager or Chief Building Engineer
  • Proactively take actions as needed to improve building appearance and overall well-being.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs to tenant spaces (including but not limited to: changing ceiling tiles, changing fixtures, changing lights, minor plumbing, patching drywall, painting, cleaning, etc.)
  • Act as a liaison between the Property Management team and Tenants;
  • Conduct scheduled, preventative maintenance checks as related to the building and its equipment;
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments;
  • Update and maintain equipment, repairs, history and inventory information in electronic work order system;
  • Perform regular property inspections and report faulty equipment or unusual situations to supervisor;
  • Responsible for proper inventory of materials and supplies;
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas;
  • Ensure that OH&S legislation and regulations are being adhered to as per Companys Safety Program;
  • Portray a favourable image of organization as front line contact with Tenants and sub-contractors;
  • Operate and test building emergency life safety and monitoring equipment
  • Respond to emergency after-hours calls according to on call schedule.
