POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment, primarily environmental chambers, and will liaise with external vendors for fault diagnosis and ongoing maintenance contracts. The role also involves organizing external contractors for facilities-based projects and upkeep. Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) are advantageous, along with strong fault-finding skills. Knowledge of refrigeration and temperature control systems is also beneficial.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of equipment repair or maintenance experience.
- Trade certification or a technical 3rd level certificate or diploma.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams, such as electrical or pneumatic diagrams.
- Good problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES
- Perform and document daily checks on laboratory test equipment and associated utilities.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on environmental chambers.
- Investigate breakdowns, debug, repair, and upgrade equipment.
- Record activities in the computerized equipment maintenance system.
- Support the installation and qualification of new equipment.
- Coordinate external maintenance service providers.
- Maintain a critical spare parts inventory.
- Identify improvement opportunities in current processes.
DUTIES - CONT’D
- Working knowledge of debugging and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation.
- Experience with refrigeration or similar control systems is an advantage.
- Experience in a regulated industry such as medical technology or pharmaceuticals is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, and pneumatics.
- Strong IT Skills in MS Office: Powerpoint, Word, Excel etc.
