JOB SUMMARY

A Maintenance Technician V is responsible for performing detailed maintenance (PM/CM) on physical plant equipment, full automation control of facility plant equipment, and general maintenance activities as required. The incumbent for this role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty, such as HVAC, Refrigeration, Boiler, Chiller, Cooling Tower, Electrical, Plumbing, Pumps, BAS and other plant mechanical equipment. Incumbents for this role should also possess technical training in engineering associated to HVAC and Building Automation Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications to HVAC equipment including but not limited to air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, motors, valves, heat exchangers, controls, and compressors.
  • Operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) and equipment control systems.
  • Provides mentoring/training to other technicians with respect to operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and systems to maintain the equipment in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government regulations (SOPs, BOPs, GLPs, etc).
  • Serves as maintenance advisor to provide input to projects in areas of equipment design, parts and material selection, documentation, testing, problem solving, maintenance requirements, project scope, and follow-up.
  • Position requires daily or common interaction with Facilities Engineering Team, Facilities Maintenance Team Management, Laboratory/Production Stakeholders, Facilities Maintenance Technicians, Contractors, and Vendors.
  • Responsible for decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, prioritizing repair, and proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience: HS/GED with >10 years of relevant experience or bachelor’s degree/associated trades certification with >6 years of relevant experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Must be certified as a “Universal” technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F through the Proper Refrigerant Practices Program approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
  • North American Technical Excellence (NATE) trade certification preferred.
  • Boiler Operators/Repairs License (Class II) preferred.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge in relevant technical areas.
  • Cognizance of the state-of-the-art technology in the industry to ensure the company utilizes current technology.
  • Good communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of the CRL organization. Can articulate issues and solutions to the team. Can produce effective project reports and presentations.
  • Position requires daily or common interaction with Facilities Engineering Team, Facilities Maintenance Team Management, Laboratory/Production Stakeholders, Facilities Maintenance Technicians, Contractors, and Vendors.
  • Can analyze problems and provide support in determining appropriate corrective and preventative actions, with minimal assistance.
  • Capable of simultaneously managing multiple assignments.
  • Capable of documentation of all work in designated CMMS software. Prioritizes own work.
  • Ability to work under specific time constraints. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
  • Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), commensurate with essential duties, including the ability to learn a validated system
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, make quick decisions, communicate decisions effectively, and lead/manage staff in a growing, changing environment
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice
  • Ability to work under specific time constraints
  • Possess good understanding of the CRO industry and operations of the organization along with technical proficiency.
