EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience working in a similar environment with similar role responsibilities
  • Mechanical/Electrical-based qualifications
  • Proven experience working with both Mechanical and Electrical control systems
  • Demonstrable ability to plan, control and prioritise workload
  • Ability to maintain and improve effective work practices, knowledge and use of continuous improvement tools
  • Demonstrates a flexible attitude towards work and can respond to business priorities appropriately
  • Ability to work alone and also be a fully integrated member of a team
  • Extensive experience as a qualified maintenance/service engineer operating within a GMP-regulated environment

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • PLC program diagnostic capabilities (Mitsubishi, Schneider, Siemens S7)
  • Experience with wet wipe, paper or packaging equipment maintenance and support
  • Experience in fluid storage and batch management systems

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The manufacturing plant is actively on a journey from a primarily reactive maintenance approach to a planned one with a focus on reliability via continuous improvement. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing mechanical and electrical maintenance support, working as part of a shift maintenance technician team cross-functionally.
This role is shift-based, and while the shift pattern does not involve weekends, occasional weekend work will be required. The primary maintenance workload is generated in wet wipes production. The role will support the business through the assurance of the availability of production assets. The secondary role of the maintenance technician is to support business development projects of any scale as required.

ROLE DELIVERABLES:

  • Carry out repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner, this equipment can include:
  • Unwinding systems
  • Wetting systems
  • Cutting machinery
  • Flow wrappers
  • Bagging
  • Conveying and conveying control systems
  • Packaging machinery
  • Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPM)
  • Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required
  • Assist visiting specialist engineers when necessary
  • Report breakdown root cause, equipment faults and concerns to management, Group Leader and Lead Tech
  • Make full use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Plan/prioritise workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time
  • Fill in job tickets / CMMS on completion of work
  • Respond to maintenance requests for equipment faults, diagnose faults, repair, and return equipment to operational service
  • Identify spares requirements and control/log usage, contact suppliers for new part alternatives to provide more robust equipment reliability
  • Assist with the moving, installation, and repositioning of machines and equipment
