Description

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

As Scotland’s smallest health board, NHS Orkney is driven by a bold vision: looking after our community and providing excellent care. Whether you’re starting your NHS journey or bringing expertise from another NHS employer, your skills will make a real difference to the health and lives of Orkney’s 22,000 residents.
Our state-of-the-art healthcare facility, The Balfour, opened in 2019 and is home to modern inpatient wards, an emergency department, outpatient clinics, diagnostics, GP practices, and the Scottish Ambulance Service. Collaboration thrives here, ensuring exceptional care for every patient. Beyond our main facility, we’re investing in our outer isles, enhancing services, and transforming patient care across our islands.

THE POSITION:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Estates Department for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician - Electrical.
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual to join our team, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of plant and equipment throughout the NHS Orkney Board area.
This varied and rewarding role includes all variations of electrical testing and fault finding, the calibration and validation of sterilisation and decontamination equipment, ensuring associated plant is maintained to the highest standards and that accurate records are kept in line with regulatory requirements.
Designated post holder will also be supported to undertake specialist training and certification to develop new skills in a variety of multi skilled roles, enabling them to carry out key duties safely and effectively.
A flexible approach to working hours is essential, as the role may require adjustments to the standard working week to meet service needs. The successful candidate will also participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota, providing vital support to ensure continuity of service.
If you’re a team player with a strong technical background and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient healthcare environments, we’d love to hear from you.
