Position Description At a Glance The Pass & Seymour business of Legrand is seeking a Maintenance/Tool Room Intern for their Concord, NC office. This intern will support a variety of skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, modification and repair work on various plant equipment, including electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC and compressors. We are looking for someone will the following: Main Job Duties: Highly Motivated and detail oriented individual Machines, tools and equipment used: CNC and manual vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, surface grinders, drills saws and assorted measuring tools. Materials used: Aluminum, mild steel, H13, A2, A6, D2, S7, 01, CPM10V, CPMm4, brass, copper, stainless steels, plastics, and phenolics and others. This individual will be asked to assist the Tool and Die Makers plan their work and all the various stages to obtain completion of a job in a cost effective manner. Example: cut raw stock, mill, drill, grind, heat treat, finish grind, EDM. Work directly with engineers and other technical personnel to make changes in tooling and build jigs, fixtures and gages. Make vendor contacts. Able to read manufacturing prints /GDT Experience with SolidWorks, preferred but not required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Some mechanical or trigonometry courses required. Experience: Must have experience as a Machinist or have taken machining courses. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Required: Mechanical Aptitude Proficiency with computers Extensive knowledge of PLC and machine automation and mechanical systems Moderate knowledge of electrical systems up to 480v, combustion systems (preferred), hydraulics, pneumatics Intermediate reading and writing skills in English Math skills, particularly in Trigonometry Able to work overtime when necessary Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity required for assembly and operating tools and machines.
