Salary Range:$70,562.18 - $70,562.18   Works under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Public Works Division. Performs more complex tasks in installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical and electromechanical machinery and equipment used in large volume wastewater treatment plants. Dismantles, or partially dismantles electric motors, turbines, engines, transmissions, hydraulic valves, meters, gages, and other equipment to gain access to or remove faulty parts. Uses hand and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and hoists. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Inspects machine and equipment periodically. Lubricates moving parts or replacing worn parts to prevent breakdown or malfunctioning. Interprets schematics and operation manuals to determine location, size, and type of parts. Operating facilities’ support equipment such as dump trucks to and from job sites throughout the city as required. Operates with appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

The mechanic performs complex installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electromechanical equipment at a wastewater treatment plant. Responsibilities include dismantling machinery, replacing defective parts, interpreting schematics, and operating support equipment like dump trucks.
