Description
Description Perform a wide variety of welding functions related to maintenance/repair of equipment, machines, buildings, etc. Work from sketch, drawing or verbal instructions to lay out work. Use a variety of tools and equipment as needed to fabricate and repair metal items. Fit up, clamp, track weld work. Select proper equipment, parts and welder settings to perform welds to prescribed specifications. Assist in pipefitting and other maintenance functions including mechanical repairs. Use of cutting equipment to cut materials to desired size and shape. Participate in planning and laying out projects. Coordinate materials, supplies, equipment and staff to complete projects efficiently. Work may include critical conformance to codes including boiler, vacuum chamber, etc. Requirements Strong shop math and organizational skills. Strong knowledge of and experience with welding, cutting and fabricating equipment and techniques. Experience and/or education in industrial maintenance and excellent mechanical aptitude. Ability to work from general instructions with little supervision. Ability to obtain and maintain required welding certifications including passing initial maintenance welding tests.
