Job Summary The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, repairs, and facility support services to ensure the hospital environment remains safe, functional, and compliant with healthcare regulatory standards. This position maintains building systems, equipment, and physical infrastructure to support patient care operations. The Maintenance Worker assists with general repairs, facility inspections, and response to maintenance requests while adhering to safety protocols, infection control practices, and hosptial policies. The role supports a clearn, safe,, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The position is an hourly, non-exempt, overtime-eligible position with a wage starting at $21.00 for all new hires. Automatic merit increases will apply annually based on annual evaluations. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Simply put: HUMANS WHO CARE Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such as a High School Diploma and approrpiate experience as defined below, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work. If you have previous experience in a hospital environment where your attention was focused on maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other maintenance operations, your application to this position will be moved to the shortlist of candidates. Education High School Diploma Required Minimum Work Experience At least two (2) years experience as a maintenance professions, with (1) year in a hospital setting preferred. Combination of education and experience acceptable. Required Licenses/Certifications Our patients, our community, and our co-workers RELY on us to be committed to their wellness, Through prevention, intervention, treatment, and education, we can and we will make a difference not just here in Bakersfield, but throughout our extended communities. You'll be required to attend a Verbal De-escalation and Intervention Strategy Training Session during orientation. Additionally, you should have a current BLS-CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date. If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you start -- and even cover the cost for you.
