POSITION SUMMARY

CMHA is looking for a Maintenance Worker at for their facilities including Warmland Shelter. Reporting to
the Manager, Operations, the Maintenance Worker performs tasks in the daily maintenance and upkeep
of CMHA CVB facilities. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing duties as directed and
delegated, including building maintenance, repairs, installation of equipment, and other maintenance
related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications include general construction skills and the ability to operate construction trade tools,
2 years direct experience with commercial building maintenance, WHMIS certification.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the Maintenance Worker performs jobs affecting the
daily maintenance and upkeep of CMHA-CVB facilities.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Have current or previous experience with building maintenance or plumbing
  • Demonstrated physical/mental ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated suitability to work with vulnerable and challenging adults in a diverse

environment

  • Ability to problem solve and make recommendations to resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment
  • Dependable and able to show up for shifts agreed upon
  • Ability to follow direction, provide/receive feedback, and engage in proactive

problem solving

  • Motivated to and understanding of work in a non-profit environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful clearance of a Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sector
  • 2 years direct experience with commercial building maintenance
  • General construction skills
  • Able to operate construction trade tools (hand and power tool use)
  • A certification in building maintenance is a plus
  • Must have a driver’s license and a clean driving record
