Description SUMMARY The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of services such as mechanical repair, general maintenance, and overall handyman for the buildings, equipment and property. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Other duties may be required and assigned. Provides routine maintenance services for building, equipment, and property. Cuts grass and does general landscaping and gardening services. Verifies preventive maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment and property are complete. Maintains irrigation systems. Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on equipment and tools and buildings. Removes any exterior trash; transporting materials to disposal area; recycling materials. Washes exterior windows when needed and maintains exterior building appearance. Sets up and breaks down equipment and furniture for functions when required. Verifies set-ups of team members are correct. Services and reports mechanical malfunctions if they cannot repair them. Is aware of, reports, and removes any possible safety hazards. Is aware of and reports any unauthorized person on the premises. Maintains building interior, equipment, mirrors and fixtures. Check-in with retreat group leaders for any additional maintenance or setup needs. Responsible for painting, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs and other routine maintenance needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of ground equipment operation and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. CATHOLIC FAITH Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Relevant experience in similar position preferred. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Must have working knowledge of all building systems, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. Individual should have the knowledge and skills to diagnose trouble issues, make minor repairs and be able to work with outside vendors to get repairs done to the building systems. Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA. Must have repair skills for minor equipment used inside or outside. Must be self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks. Must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training. WORKING CONDITIONS The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure. PHYSICAL and SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 15 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (75 pounds). Exposure to climate changes, uncomfortable temperatures, and fumes. Works with machinery requiring considerable caution. A review of this position has excluded the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. All duties and responsibilities are essential job functions and requirements are subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities

Provides routine mechanical repair, general maintenance, and landscaping services for buildings and property. Responsible for preventative maintenance, equipment setup for functions, and ensuring the safety and appearance of the premises.
