About the role: Reporting to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Maintenance Supervisor, the MRF Maintenance Worker leads the routine maintenance and repairs that includes all mobile and operations equipment, the MRF building, and minor electrical repairs. The MRF Maintenance Worker has the ability to operate equipment and understand baler operations to assess maintenance requirements. This is a unionized position with CUPE 4106.

Salary: $29.01 per hour. 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License
  • Must have experience leading the repair of heavy equipment and industrial machinery
  • Electrical experience assessing and completing minor repairs
  • Heavy equipment, truck or industrial mechanics certification, hydraulics certification or welding certification will be an asset
  • Qualified operator certificates for a forklift, loader and zoom boom will be an asset
  • Basic computer skills for email and data entry are required
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR, GHS (WHMIS), and OH&S will be an asset
  • Certifications in fall protection, confined space and confined space entry will be an asset
    Conditions of employment include being legally entitled to work in Canada and producing a satisfactory criminal record check and driver’s abstract.
