Description Employment Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Work Schedule: 35 hours a week Monday – Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (1 hour lunch) weekends as needed Reports to: Pastor/Office Manager *Benefits may include: Paid Holidays/Holy Days 403b Retirement 401 (a) Pension Plan Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Employee Assistance Program Short-term/Long-term Disability Position Summary: The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the care, cleanliness and maintenance of the parish facilities and grounds. This position will also require the individual to be knowledgeable of all cleaning equipment and chemicals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and care for assigned areas including dusting, and polishing of furniture, equipment and other fixtures Sanitize pews, chairs, and kneelers Clean all building floors (sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming) Clean all outside windows, glass partitions, and mirrors Clean and resupply restrooms in all facilities Stock and maintain all custodial supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner including, paper, toiletries, lighting cleaning chemicals and other supplies Provides janitorial/custodial support services to staff including but not limited to internal and external buildings and grounds Gather and empty trash bins Check grounds for litter/garbage and unsafe conditions Provides all ground maintenance services including but not limited to cutting grass, trimming trees and/or bushes, edging at sidewalks and/or other borders, weed control, and blowing of landscape debris. Performs ground equipment repair and preventative maintenance Lift and carry supplies, equipment, deliveries etc. weighing up to 30 lbs. Set-up rooms for meetings and timeframe requested (moving tables, chairs, microphone, chalk boards, etc.) Work weekend parish rental events as needed. Identify and report building and ground issues in need of repair or attention to Pastor or Office Manager. Troubleshoots issues and performs minor repairs in a timely manner, and as directed or outlined by Pastor or Office Manager. Perform repairs and/or maintenance in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and others. For more complex issues, management must be notified. Observe and adhere to all safe work and health policies and regulations Any other duties as required by the Pastor or Office Manager Requirements High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required Prior custodial/janitorial and maintenance experience preferred Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals Experience with operating various cleaning and lawn equipment Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision Must be proactive in support of the Parish purpose, goals, policies and programs Must possess good interpersonal communication skills Must complete and pass VIRTUS training and criminal background check Physical Demands/ Work Environment: Spend majority of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors The position requires the lifting of tools, and equipment or material weighing up to 30 lbs. as necessary Use of ladders and climbing to maintain facilities when necessary Maintains a neat clean appearance This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties or working conditions associated with the job.
