    Job Title: Maintenance Worker-Seasonal Department: Public Works Department Reports to: Jijak Supervisor Location: Public Works Jijak Level/Status: Non-Exempt, 30 hours per week  Open Date: April 1, 2026 Close Date: April 11, 2026 SUMMARY Part time Maintenance Worker is needed from April thru September to provide a variety of general maintenance and landscaping duties which support Tribal Government facilities and properties. This position will include direct assistance with the Jijak facilities and grounds and other Government properties. Other duties will include maintenance and landscaping of streets, ditches, sidewalks and right-of-way. This position will also interact with the Tribal Government Departments.   ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS * Must be 18 years of age or older * Be physically able to perform duties described above * Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn processes and procedures including safety and PPE   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: * Assist in Maintaining all Tribal Property including, but not limited to mowing, fertilizing, de-weeding, landscaping, ditching, painting and building repairs * Be able to document maintenance work performed * Operate and perform needed maintenance on tools, vehicles, equipment, buildings and roads * Assist Maintenance Workers perform plumbing and electrical system upgrades and repairs including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses when appropriate  * Demonstrate the proper operational use of equipment, landscaping techniques and grounds maintenance * Adhere to all MBPI policies (i.e. personnel, purchasing and safety regulations)  * Participation in periodic training workshops designed to provide a safe work environment or improve the workers’ ability to perform one or more of their job functions * Work with other Maintenance Workers assisting other departments for a variety of tasks as needed * Housekeeping duties  * In order to use power tools and heavy machinery, must be 18 years or older   OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Must have good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task * Ability to operate large equipment, including plow trucks, tractors and large mowers (must be 18 years or older and possess a valid Driver’s License) * Gain Knowledge and a basic understanding of OSHA safety rules and ability to learn and follow all safety rules * Dependability, initiative, good judgment and willingness to learn new skills as required * Ability to comprehend and abide by Tribal, federal and other environmental regulations/codes * Learn to use discretion and problem-solving methods in the course of conflict management * Gain Knowledge on how to read and interpret documents and blueprints * Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times * Maintain the highest level of confidentiality of all matters   CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT * Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and be insurable * Assist Full time Maintenance workers to meet deadlines * Ability and willingness to travel for work assignments, meetings and continuing education * Must be able to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and may be subject to working in extreme weather conditions * Requires physical labor; a great deal of lifting, squatting, kneeling, pushing and pulling is required to complete the task at hand * Work is performed in a variety of settings from a quiet general office to fieldwork in a sewer/ditch or on a construction site * Exposed to a combination of office and outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions when necessary * Ability to lift and/or move objects as required   SECURITY SENSITIVE This position will have access to information that may security sensitive and thereby subject to additional provisions.   DISCLAIMER The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by persons assigned to this job.
