SUMMARY:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational and cultural services.
The Transportation Maintenance Worker maintains and repairs the Tribe’s Transit buildings, property, trails, and grounds.

Responsibilities
  • Provide necessary repairs and maintenance to the Tribe’s Transit property as needed and as requested on work orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Ponca Express and GSA vehicles, including washing the exterior of the vehicles, vacuuming carpets & seats, checking and topping off engine fluid levels, and providing overall vehicle routine maintenance.
  • Maintain landscaping, which includes: mowing, weed control, planting and trimming of shrubs and trees of the Transit Building.
  • Responsible for the overall wellbeing of the entire Ponca Education Trail including earth lodge and amphitheater and other trail destinations.
  • Maintain and controls irrigation systems linked with tribal transit inventory.
  • Clean internal areas of transit building which includes: dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and window washing.
  • Haul, repair and replace roadway aggregate.
  • Remove snow and ice from parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, switches, fuses and belts in machines and equipment such as truck and riding lawnmower.
  • Keep a log of all service, maintenance and repairs performed on all equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections to monitor for repair and safety hazards and prepare a plan of action to address the inspection findings.
  • Maintain an inventory of all equipment and tools used by the Maintenance staff and submit to Procurement Officer at least annually.
  • May be on-call after normal office hours for emergency or routine maintenance needs, including when business office is closed due to inclement weather.
  • Other duties as assigned.
