SUMMARY:

1948 Bar & Bistro is seeking a polished, guest-focused Maître D’ to be the face of our dining room in Ladysmith BC. As Maître D’, you will lead the front door experience, ensuring every guest feels welcomed with warmth and sophistication. You’ll orchestrate reservations, manage seating flow, and collaborate closely with the Front of House Manager and service team to deliver seamless, elevated hospitality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a Maître D’, Head Host, or FOH leader in a fine dining or elevated casual environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect with guests.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to balance reservations, walk-ins, and service flow with ease.
  • Knowledge of POS and reservation systems.
  • A refined, professional presence with a passion for creating memorable experiences.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with grace and composure.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome guests with professionalism, charm, and personal attention.
  • Manage the reservation system, ensuring accurate bookings, waitlists, and VIP recognition.
  • Curate the flow of the dining room, optimizing guest satisfaction and service efficiency.
  • Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and the kitchen to anticipate guest needs and special requests.
  • Build rapport with repeat guests and marina members, offering personalized touches and experiences.
  • Assist in hosting private dining, yacht club dinners, and catered events.
  • Maintain a refined knowledge of the menu, wine list, and signature cocktails to enhance guest engagement.
  • Support service during peak hours by assisting with floor oversight and guest relations.
  • Train and mentor hosts and junior FOH staff in elevated guest service standards.
  • Represent the 1948 Bar & Bistro brand with sophistication and hospitality at all times.
