Description

The Major Event & Closings Senior Analyst will support the Major Event & Closings Manager in performing the major event co-ordination process, creating analysis and reporting of exposure on major catastrophe and large risk losses, and assisting in the planning and execution of the quarter close process, ensuring all deadlines are respected whilst facilitating good co-ordination with all key stakeholders.
Where duties and responsibilities overlap with other job descriptions, a Senior Analyst is to assume responsibility, support, and contribution to the below areas at a level appropriate to the role and be supported by more senior team members as required.

Under the responsibility of the Major Event & Closings Manager, the candidate will:

  • Contribute to the management of the quarter close process, including:
  • Production of an effective timetable for all aspects of the closing
  • Assist in producing all required supporting exhibits & analysis
  • Contribute to and attend meetings and keep records to ensure transparency/that all the required approvals are in place to proceed with required bookings
  • Support the Major Event & Closings Manager in presenting exhibits and analysis to interested parties including those at Exec Co level
  • Contribute to the creation & timely circulation of LLN/CEM in collaboration with regional operational staff and CE’s worldwide so that bookings can be made in support of the closing process, thereby enabling a smooth and auditable landing each quarter
  • Build & maintain working relationships with key stakeholders across SCOR, especially a strong connectivity with Paris and regional finance teams, ensuring good open communication and sharing a single set of quarter end claim financialsSupervise, oversee and mentor the Graduate and VIE resources in order to spread workload during peak periods, ensuring all deadlines are met and develop their insurance/reinsurance knowledge

    • Support the execution of the major cat and major risk procedures, including:
  • Support the major cat event & major risk processes, coordinating with key stakeholders in SCOR’s different locations in order to provide senior leadership with accurate and timely updatesTake ownership of the maintenance of the major cat and major risk procedure documents and related ICS controls, reviewing as required to ensure they remain appropriate over time

  • Support the Major Event & Closings Manager in the pursuit of best practise & automation, reviewing ways of working and making proposals for improving end to end processes, propose and create new and improved tools to help drive greater efficiency around the team’s processes and areas of responsibility


    • Support the production of Claims Analytics for Cat and Major Risk including:

    • Contribute to the production of analytics in conjunction with relevant areas of the business and ensure trends and conclusions communicated to management and fed into the decision-making process
    • Through knowledge of the wider (re)insurance lifecycle and the through internal relationships, seek out collaborative opportunities where claims loss analytics would add value
    • Take ownership of drafting and maintaining ground truth documents for major Natural Catastrophe events and liaison with local Claims Operations teams to co-ordinate the development of ground truth documents / briefing notes for localised Natural Catastrophe events.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

    • Strong Microsoft Office Skills required, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to advanced level
    • Experience of reporting & database tools (Business Objects, Tableau, Qlikview, SQL etc.) gained working in an insurance or reinsurance organisation desirable but not essential
    • Strong report writing skills; ability to assemble succinct PowerPoint presentations and word documents
    • Strong attention to detail, and good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, ensuring high quality of delivery
    • Good communication skills required - will need to build relationships in order to coordinate and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders including underwriters, finance and actuarial functions and other support staff in all hubs/offices in different countries.
    • Self-motivated with good drive and enthusiasm; confident, requiring minimal direction & supervisionSome travel to other SCOR offices may be required.

    • Educated to Degree standard in a relevant subject, or equivalence
