We are seeking an experienced and motivated Major Gift Officer to join our fundraising team. This role is ideal for a relationship builder with a passion for philanthropy and a proven track record of securing major gifts.

Position Summary

The Major Gift Officer manages a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects capable of making gifts of $10,000–$1M+. This role focuses on building strong donor relationships, crafting compelling proposals, and securing significant philanthropic support to advance the Foundation’s strategic priorities and campaigns. The Major Gift Officer will also play a key role in encouraging and supporting planned giving commitments as part of a comprehensive donor strategy.

Key Accountabilities
Donor Meetings & Relationship Building
· Manage a portfolio of 100–120 qualified donors and prospects at the $10,000–$1M+ level.
· Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized meetings, calls, and meaningful touchpoints.
· Develop and implement customized moves management plans for each prospect.
Proposal & Case Development
· Draft and edit compelling proposals, impact reports, and case materials that align donor interests with Foundation priorities.
· Partner with Foundation leadership, physicians, and volunteers to support donor meetings and solicitations.
Prospect & Pipeline Management
· Collaborate with the Prospect Research team to identify, qualify, and prioritize new major gift opportunities.
· Advance prospects through the pipeline using targeted cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Planned Giving Responsibilities
· Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective planned giving donors as part of the overall portfolio strategy.
· Integrate legacy giving conversations into donor meetings where appropriate.
· Collaborate with legal, financial, and estate advisors to support donors in documenting their legacy gifts.
· Assist in creating planned giving proposals and stewardship plans to recognize and honor legacy donors.
Database Management & Reporting
· Accurately record all donor interactions, solicitations, and commitments in the CRM system, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
· Generate and analyze reports and metrics to track fundraising progress and inform strategy.
Performance Management & Reporting
· Maintain personal fundraising metrics, including donor meetings, solicitations, and revenue goals.
· Ensure timely documentation of engagement activities within internal systems.
· Contribute to departmental performance reviews by reporting on progress toward goals.
Program & Initiative Support
· Support the development and implementation of new fundraising programs and initiatives.
· Participate in signature events, including planning, on-site support, donor hosting, and post-event follow-up.
· Assist with stewardship activities, including donor recognition, impact communications, and event follow-up.
Team Collaboration
· Work closely with colleagues in annual giving, planned giving, and events to develop integrated donor strategies.

· Contribute to a positive, donor-focused culture of philanthropy and excellence.

Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies
· University degree in a related field (fundraising, communications, marketing, business, or a related discipline) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 2+ years of experience in fundraising or a communications/marketing context, preferably in the non-profit or healthcare sector.
· Proven track record of securing major gifts in the $10,000–$1M+ range.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.
· Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with high-net-worth individuals, volunteers, and senior leadership.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
· Experience with Raiser’s Edge CRM or similar donor management software.
Assets:
· CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) designation.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel locally as required.

Pay: $72,000.00-$89,451.00 per year
