This could be the perfect time for you to join us as a Major Incident Room Reader Receiver.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us at #TeamNP and be at the heart of the Major Incident Room, playing an integral part of complex investigations, delivering a high quality of service to victims of crime and bereaved families. You will play a critical role receiving, reading, analysing and quality checking all material entering and being managed by the team. Working collaboratively with skilled colleagues you will meet agreed objectives, share information, and critically analyse documents and other material.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Receive, read and critically assess all documentation and material entering a Major Incident Room (MIR) for accuracy, and identify any investigative opportunities to progress main lines of enquiry in line with SIO policy, Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP) as well as national frameworks and legislation.
  • Assess all documentation and material received into the MIR for security issues, priority and marking required under the Government Protective Marking Scheme. Forward all documents received for registration on the HOLMES system with clear instruction, to allow the MIR HOLMES staff to progress enquiries.
  • Facilitate the timely and efficient delivery of investigations by prioritising documentation, materials and workload appropriately depending on the operational requirements of the MIR. Communicate efficiently and escalate to the MIR Manager and Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) as appropriate, where critical developments are identified, contributing to the progression of the main lines of enquiry within an investigation.
  • Read and annotate typed, proof-read documents, identifying and highlighting key information, links between records and further investigative actions to be raised, providing clear instructions to MIR ‘Indexers’. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the ‘Indexing’ role in accordance with the Major Investigation Standardised Administrative Procedures, enabling the efficient retrieval of documentation and information from the HOLMES database.
  • Engage with the wider MIR and Major Investigation Team (MIT) to maintain an in-depth understanding of ongoing investigations and priorities, as directed by MIR management and the SIO. Attend all required briefings and where required, perform briefings to assist in achieving successful outcomes. Maintain close liaison with the D/Sgt (OIC) in respect of allocated actions in order to effectively manage and progress investigations.
