In this high‑impact role, you will partner with operational teams and project leaders to support the safe delivery of significant overhaul programs. You will play an important role throughout the full outage lifecycle—from planning and mobilisation through to execution and close‑out—ensuring strong safety leadership, clear expectations and consistent standards. This full‑time position can be based in either our Hexham or Brisbane office and includes travel to site as required during outage periods. Key responsibilities include: Providing strong, positive HSE leadership across major outage sites. Embedding safety planning and risk management into outage preparation. Verifying critical risk controls and ensuring consistent high‑risk work processes. Supporting incident response, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. Managing HSE performance reporting and sharing insights with stakeholders. Coaching and developing safety advisors and operational leaders. Building constructive relationships with clients, contractors and site teams. Contributing to upcoming bids and future outage planning. You will bring: 8–10+ years of HSE experience in high‑risk industries such as power, industrial, construction or heavy maintenance. Experience leading or mentoring teams. Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Health & Safety (tertiary qualifications desirable). Lead ICAM qualification and complex investigation experience. Understanding of critical risk frameworks (bow‑tie methodology desirable). Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and engage effectively. A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach. What we offer At Downer, we want you to succeed and feel supported. In this role, you will: Lead HSE across major power station overhauls with national visibility. Work with a committed team across operations and safety.
