As part of the CIMIC Group, UGL partners with major operators to deliver brownfield LNG shutdowns, turnarounds and major maintenance programs across Australia. About the role We are seeking an experienced Major Shutdown Event Lead / Shutdown Manager to lead the execution of major LNG shutdowns and turnaround works at the Santos GLNG gas processing facility. This role provides single‑point accountability for shutdown execution, leading integrated multi‑disciplinary teams across Operations, Maintenance, Projects, HSE, OEMs and specialist contractors. You will be responsible for delivering shutdown scope safely, on schedule and in line with approved cost, quality and productivity targets. The role is offered on a fixed‑term contract and is based on Curtis Island, with full commitment required throughout shutdown preparation, execution and post‑shutdown stabilisation phases. Key Responsibilities • Act as Shutdown Event Lead, taking full accountability for LNG shutdown and turnaround execution from site mobilisation to handover • Lead multi‑disciplinary shutdown execution teams, including operations, maintenance, construction, OEMs and contractors • Drive shutdown HSE performance in a safety‑critical LNG facility, enforcing PTW, SIMOPS, Life Saving Rules and fatigue management • Manage brownfield and live‑plant interfaces, execution risks and constraints to protect critical path delivery • Deliver work against rolling execution plans and look‑ahead schedules, ensuring labour, materials and equipment readiness • Provide visible site leadership during shutdown execution, chairing daily safety, coordination and progress meetings • Support shutdown cost control and contractor performance, including progress tracking, claims awareness and change management • Mentor and coach supervisors to uplift shutdown execution discipline, productivity and leadership capability About you • Trade qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical or SMP, with extensive LNG or oil & gas shutdown experience • Proven experience delivering major LNG shutdowns, turnarounds or major maintenance campaigns • Strong understanding of brownfield oil & gas facilities and live‑asset operations • Demonstrated capability in shutdown execution leadership, schedule control and critical path management • Working knowledge of Primavera P6, SAP CMMS and Microsoft Office • Strong commercial awareness across contractor performance, variations and claims • Decisive, resilient leader capable of operating in a high‑pressure shutdown environment • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead diverse stakeholder groups on site What we offer • Opportunity to lead high‑profile LNG shutdowns and turnarounds on a flagship operating asset • Exposure to Tier 1 shutdown delivery standards within the CIMIC Group • Career development pathways across UGL and CIMIC Group businesses • Competitive package aligned to shutdown responsibility and execution demands • Safety‑focused, performance‑driven project culture About UGL UGL is part of the CIMIC Group, operating across Australia and New Zealand.
