Description

The Macquarie Asset Management Platform Engineering team provides shared platforms to the development community so that they can focus on delivering business value.
What role will you play?
As a Technical Owner on the Macquarie Asset Management Technology team, you will take ownership of our shared platforms, driving their strategic direction and ensuring they meet the needs of the broader engineering community. You will work closely with the Macquarie Asset Management development teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, curate roadmaps, manage backlogs, and lead development activities. In addition to guiding and mentoring the team, you will contribute hands-on by writing code and providing subject matter expertise. You will also champion Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and address non-functional concerns such as scalability, performance, resilience, and security. This role emphasizes ownership and evolution of three critical platforms: Airflow, EKS, and API platforms.

What you offer

  • Proficiency in Python and Go for building pipelines and microservices
  • Deep experience with AWS (core services, networking, IAM, and Kubernetes (EKS), GitOps tools like ArgoCD (current) and Flux (future), CI/CD pipelines with GitLab, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform, Observability tools like Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, and Tempo, Workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, and API Gateway solutions (e.g., Gloo Enterprise) and WAF (e.g., F5)
  • Expertise in managing content inside EKS, including tenant workloads, manifests, and operational tooling, while leveraging enterprise-provided EKS clusters, strong understanding of API platform components such as gateways, WAFs, and API workload foundations, and experience designing and optimizing workflow orchestration solutions using Airflow
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles, including incident management, post-mortems, and automation of operational tasks, and experience designing and implementing solutions to meet SLOs, SLIs, and other reliability goals
  • Ability to define and execute platform roadmaps, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals, and strong collaboration and communication skills to work with diverse stakeholders and developer communities.
