Are you passionate about using your training and expertise to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer? Screen Test, part of Alberta Breast Cancer Screening program has an opening for a 0.5 part-time Mammography Tech I (MTI). You will join a dedicated provincial team that operates a screening mammography clinic in Edmonton and provides improved access to screening mammograms for over 120 rural communities across Alberta through two mobile mammography units. This position is responsible for facilitating the mobile mammography clinics based in Edmonton and performing mammograms at mobile sites primarily in the North and Central Zones. In addition to performing high quality mammographic exams, this position is responsible for the operation and monitoring of all mobile equipment and trailer systems at all mobile sites including fleet vehicles. This position offers the successful candidate an exceptional opportunity to work a compressed work week as the mobile teams typically work a 3-day rotation per shift, which includes out of town and overnight travel. Routine duties will involve transporting supplies to the mobile clinic which requires the ability to lift/carry supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. The MTI is a key role that demonstrates initiative on a range of duties including driving fleet vehicles and performing the setup and shutdown of the mobile clinic. The MTI will bring strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills as they will monitor trailer systems, troubleshoot trailer problems and mammography equipment as well as perform quality control tests on mammography units. Other responsibilities include tech audit, reviewing schedules; purchasing supplies; assisting with service and cleaning of mobile vehicles.
Description:
As a Mammography Technologist I, you will be responsible for performing mammographic exams to produce high quality images using radiologic digital equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. You will receive and complete requisitions, enter relevant data into the radiology information system and prepare examination trays and patients for specific procedures. You will operate computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data and monitoring patients and equipment performance during procedures.
