Responsibilities

The Management Accountant will play a crucial, proactive role in supporting the finance team to deliver quality information, in a timely manner, to assist the leadership team in their decision making. The role will also review costing and pricing rate performance and help management understand deviations from plan/forecast.

Responsibilities

  • Finance business partner to the department leads to help them manage the financial performance of the Cost Base.
  • Prepare monthly Cost Base reporting including variance analysis to explain why performance has deviated from forecast and budget.
  • Lead monthly Cost Base reviews and forecast updates with the department budget holders.Work closely with the Financial Controller and department leads to support the annual budgeting process (IBP).
  • Interrogate Cost Base to understand performance drivers and ensure correct cost allocation/reporting.
  • Own the month-end close process for Cost Base, preparing journals as required for adjustments, accruals and pre-payments.Produce management information and reports on utilisation to help the business understand actual performance vs the budget and any remedial actions required.
  • Support the Project Management function with resource demand and supply modelling to help management make recruitment decisions.
  • Maintain costing and pricing rates model and analyse emerging rate performance against budget to report to management.
  • Prepare monthly stock reporting and analysis to business stakeholders to support decision making.
  • Monitor, challenge and understand any stock losses within the business and support relevant teams to minimize this moving forward.
  • Support Operations with driving improvements to stock systems and data quality.
  • Assist with annual inventory counts and spot check cycle counts.
  • Provide support to both internal and external audit, ensuring timely response and action of any audit recommendations.
  • Support the wider Finance team with ad-hoc projects as required, e.g. ERP system implementation.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About You
Qualifications
Part/Fully Qualified: CIMA, ACCA, ACA
Skills and competencies

Essential

  • Understanding and experience of month-end close including accruals and prepayments.
  • Experience in Cost Base/Overhead accounting.
  • Confident in communicating financial knowledge across all levels of an organisation.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience of Stock control and reporting.
  • Excellent prioritisation and self-management skills are key, as is the ability to manage and meet a wide variety of internal and external reporting deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an ERP system environment.
  • Costing and Pricing rates management experience.
