Experience
- AAT Qualified or actively studying towards a professional qualification with a recognised accountancy body, (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA), with 2-3 years’ experience in an accountancy environment within industry/public sector
- Highly competent and experienced in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and MS Office applications, especially advanced Microsoft Excel skills will be essential as you will be expected to maintain, develop, and build financial models.
- Confident in the use of virtual meeting platforms to facilitate key stakeholder communications.
- Effective communication skills to successfully manage interactions with external stakeholders (Key Customer representatives) and internal stakeholders, (i.e., Dept. Heads, Divisional Commanders, Operational Unit Commanders and their staff).
- A high degree of numeracy, technical and analytical skills and the ability to question current ways of working.
- An analytical and innovative approach to problem solving and the ability to ensure all pertinent options have been appraised.
- Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Proactive, high energy, result oriented and committed to meeting critical deadlines.
- Willingness to work in a national environment communicating with colleagues in various locations.
- Previous experience of providing management reporting and facilitating budgeting and forecasting processes would be a significant advantage.
- Experience of working in a large multi-unit matrix organisation would be beneficial
Responsibilities:
THE CIVIL NUCLEAR CONSTABULARY (CNC) IS AN ARMED POLICE SERVICE DEDICATED TO THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY. OUR VISION IS TO BE RECOGNISED NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY AS THE UNITED KINGDOM’S LEADING ORGANISATION FOR THE PROVISION OF PROTECTIVE POLICING FOR THE CIVIL NUCLEAR INDUSTRY AND OTHER CRITICAL NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE. GIVEN THE CRITICAL NATURE OF OUR WORK, IT’S VITAL THAT WE RECRUIT SKILLED AND COMMITTED PROFESSIONALS TO OUR TEAM. WE PLAY A KEY ROLE IN THE STRATEGIC ARMED POLICING RESERVE AND HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED ACROSS THE COUNTRY AS PART OF OPERATION TEMPERER IN RESPONSE TO TERRORIST ATTACKS.
You will report to the Senior Management Accountant and be responsible for providing technical business partnering in all aspects of monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting with emphasis on process efficiency and continuous improvement alongside the production of robust management information to enable effective decision making by senior management.
- Full Ownership of month end reporting processes – analysis and production of reporting packs for circulation to Finance Business Partners, budget managers and senior management
- Working with the Finance Business Partners, to provide financial advice, financial analysis, coaching and challenge to Budget Holders and their staff, counsel on and guidance in implementing corrective action on receipt of early warning of variances from budgets.
- Co-ordinate and lead the budgeting and forecasting exercises, receive financial submissions, consolidate and incorporate into the medium-term financial plan for their allocated portfolio, ensuring the organisation is following the principles of managing public money.
- Proactively manage customer relationships from order to cash received, ensuring timely cashflows into the organisation.
- Collaborate with Business Systems Support team to develop additional reporting and improve processes and models as necessary to enhance the relationships with key stakeholders.
- Responsibility for data integrity in Oracle (Fusion and EPM), identification, determination, and implementation of corrective action for errors and issues.
- Support with tracking and modelling the financials and providing technical input to key projects, business cases and reports for management groups and committees.
- Provide other ad-hoc analysis and participate in various financial exercises as required
- Work in conjunction with the Financial Control Team to produce accurate and timely end of year accounts, ensuring financial controls are maintained and undertake internal and external audit activities.
