SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Have previous experience of Management Accounts preparation.
  • Ideally, previous experience of Xero, Sage and other accounting software.
  • Ideally, have year-end preparation experience.
  • AAT (or equivalent)
  • ACA or ACCA or CIMA qualification

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

  • Primarily engaged with larger clients requiring complex financial reporting.
  • Accountable for preparing management accounts and VAT returns, ensuring all reporting deadlines are consistently met.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations to a standard suitable for year-end reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of budgeting and forecasting models, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow projections.
  • Build a strong understanding of client-specific software applications and identify additional tools that may enhance their business operations.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including margin analysis and departmental reporting.
  • Provide insightful commentary on key financial variances.
  • Play an active role in software implementation projects, including Xero migrations, user training/support, and process optimisation for other accounting systems.
  • Uphold and implement standardised processes and procedures across the department.
  • Champion the adoption of best practices in technology usage within the team.
  • Participate in and contribute to regular departmental meetings.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring all compliance and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Delegate tasks to junior team members, providing appropriate oversight and reviewing their work for quality and accuracy.
  • Offer support, coaching, and guidance to less experienced colleagues to aid their development.
  • Proactively manage your own workload, communicating progress updates and flagging any concerns regarding deadlines, job budgets, or capacity issues in a timely manner.
  • Keep the departmental work planner up to date with scheduled absences and potential workload conflicts.
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback within the team to support continuous improvement.
