Description:

RPS is looking for a Management Accountant to provide support to the Business Unit Finance Director and local Project Managers to ensure that the financial health of the Northern Ireland Business Unit is maintained:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Working Capital Management
  • Business Partnering
  • Financial reporting experience
  • Good technical knowledge including UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Strong excel skills
  • Reconciliation skills
  • Self-starter
  • Post qualification experience
  • Desirable: professional services experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Work closely with Belfast Project Managers, understand their business needs and provide timely financial solutions/assistance to help them achieve their goals.
  • Ensure Financial reporting for business units is accurate and in accordance with the group timetable.
  • Ensure that Group financial and operational governance controls are operating correctly and across all Accountability Centres.
  • Ensure that Directors are aware of any significant financial issues on a timely basis.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers on all aspects of project management & reporting.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Ensure that the monthly management accounts are accurately prepared and are reviewed in detail. Specifically, the CSR reports should each have been reviewed in detail by the MA, queries raised and challenged with individual project managers to ensure that projects have been accurately reported in accordance with relevant accounting standards. This will require close liaising both with the FD and also Directors/Project Managers.
  • Analyse costs, fees, project margins and the Business Unit actual performance compared to business targets.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Obtain robust explanations for any significant trends/variations to target or forecast for each business unit.
  • Review Project Evaluation & Estimate at Completion (PEEAC) forecasts, early identification of project issues and assist in resolving.
  • Working Capital management - perform monthly WIP and Debtor reviews in person with individual Project Managers.
  • Provide support with the preparation of project budgets to assist with bids/tender prices.
  • Assist Business Unit FD in preparation of Annual target models
  • Assist Business Unit FD in ensuring that the division complies with the regulatory framework e.g. (External audit, Intermediaries reporting, VAT compliance, WHT, branch accounts for Letterkenny office etc)
  • Assist office to resolve issues/queries on set up/operation of RPS systems e.g. Tetra Linx, Chrome River.
  • Assist Business Unit FD in preparing monthly Group reports e.g cash flow, forex exposure etc
  • Assist Business Unit FD with adhoc reports and special projects
  • Previous Experience in Management Accounting/Business Partnering (Preferable)
  • Technical knowledge including UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Intermediate/ Advanced Excel and Report creating skills
