MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years’ experience in administrative support.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in general accounting principles and practices.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in virtual personnel, accounting and payroll platforms.
  • Experience with Workday platform highly preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Notary Public Certification (or the ability to successfully acquire certification in the first six months of employment).
  • Administrative professional certifications are highly preferred (SHRM, CAP, PACE, etc.)

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of payroll processes, automated payroll systems, personnel management policies and procedures, business, English, and math.
  • Considerable knowledge of Human Resources practices and application of employment law.

Skills:

  • Office equipment operation, Microsoft office suite, payroll and clerical functions related to assigned function.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and computer operation skills.
  • Excellent time and task management
  • Problem solving skills; including the ability to read, write, spell, and speak in a clear and concise manner and to educate, counsel, and motivate others.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.

Essential Personnel:

  • Members of Aurora911 are considered essential personnel and are subject to call back or extended shifts to ensure continuity of emergency services to the city.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Light physical work lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing.
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer screens and keyboard.
  • Clear speech communication to effectively communication with citizens and public safety organizations.
  • Hearing and listening to maintain communication to handle and dispatch emergency calls.

Work Environment:

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative support to select department positions and on behalf of the department.
  • Schedules appointments and meetings on behalf of the Executive Team Members and for the department.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Prepares, processes, and ensures accuracy of bi-weekly payroll for department employees.
  • Records and disseminates meeting minutes.
  • Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions.
  • Helps to maintain and organize department records (employee, financial, discovery)
  • Research, compile, print, and/or prepare materials and reports.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment including personnel computers with varied software. – modern description
