Description To prepare qualified candidates for future positions in customer service, sales, or operations within the Sovereign Steel division, through a set of structured experiences in all functional areas within the division. While striving for continuous improvement, the Management Trainee will learn all facets of the Steel industry, including Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Quality Control. Essential Functions: Learn the day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations. Understand basic processes to maintain quality and efficiency. Develop customer service and sales skills to include completing take-offs, preparing quotes, taking customer orders, shipping, dispatching, and invoicing. Actively participates in all assignments given. Establishes a positive working relationship with all employees. Provide regular activity updates as requested. Seek guidance and maintain communication with mentors. Demonstrates an understanding/proficiency of each training objective. Produce a summary report at completion of each assignment as requested. Focuses on building personnel management skills to eventually lead a team. Commits to the best plant practices and safety procedures. Stay up to date with the latest industry’s best practices. Adheres to all applicable company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. EOE Requirements Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer some experience in a manufacturing or distribution industry. After a specified period, the candidate must become proficient in ASA (Applied Systems Associates) software. After a specified period, the candidate must become proficient in QuickBooks for making ship tickets and invoices. Effective in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Effective oral and written communication skills. Meticulous and organized. Ability to be initiative-taking and an effective collaborator. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, and others. Physical Demands: Able to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs. Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach, and operate a computer keyboard. Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and/or ladders. The ability to work primarily outside, with exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
