The School for the Contemporary Arts (SCA) offers a unique interdisciplinary curriculum in which studio classes in film, dance, music & sound, visual arts, theatre performance & production and design are integrated with the theoretical, historical, and political study of the arts in downtown Vancouver. The meeting of creative practice with academic inquire is core to the SCA, which works to foster artists and scholars who are equipped to engage with and contribute to important contemporary dialogues, issues and challenges. The SCA aims to provide students with the necessary skills to excel as artists in this rapidly changing landscape.
The Manager, Academic and Administrative Services is responsible for providing leadership in planning and operationalizing the delivery of academic and non-academic activities of the School for the Contemporary Arts(SCA). The role manages the annual operating budgets for the SCA and its various curricular areas; manages course and enrollment planning; oversees the administration/support of research, specific purpose, endowment and equipment budgets; oversees the work of academic and support staff; negotiates contracts with external groups regarding space rental and monitors compliance with these contracts; coordinates the process of determining costs and collection of funds with Goldcorp Centre for the Arts Production & Event Services (GCAPES) and Meeting, Event and Conference Services (MECS). The role ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the unit by developing strategies and plans to achieve objectives and leads ongoing business process improvements. The Manager works in collaboration with senior administration on departmental matters and conducts complex analyses to support strategic decision making.
