[What the role is] Purpose of Job This position plays a key role in strengthening Singapore’s food security, by being a member of a team responsible for developing, refining, and implementing import diversification and supply resilience plans for food commodities and agri-inputs assessed to be important for Singapore’s food security. This position requires a candidate with strong analytical capabilities, interpersonal effectiveness, as well as a strong willingness to learn about and keep abreast of (i) political, social, economic and regulatory environments and (ii) global food supply chains. [What you will be working on] Duties: Formulate and review diversification and food supply chain resilience plans, including supply and demand intervention strategies by (i) drawing from scientific frameworks / theories, (ii) anticipating international developments, scientific and societal trends, and impact of emerging technologies, as well as (iii) balancing trade-offs, to ensure a continued supply of sale food for Singapore. Translate policies into strategies for food supply resilience, incorporating supply-side interventions such as import diversification, regulatory/business facilitation, G2G arrangements, alongside demand-side strategies like behavioural studies and consumer education. Coordinate and drive cross-agencies/divisional efforts to implement and monitor implementation of plans Drive proof of concept projects to improve food supply chain visibility and proactively prepare for longer-term supply challenges, including those posed by climate change. Drive legislative amendments / enactments and implementation to ensure a continued supply of food for Singapore. Establish strategic relationships with key stakeholders to obtain buy-in for SFA’s food supply strategies and plan as well as create new opportunities for collaboration. The officer will report to Deputy Director (Supply Chain Resilience) and Director (Supply Chain Resilience) of SFA. [What we are looking for] Qualifications: Highly self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesise complex information Ability to work independently and as a team player within the Divisional / Departmental / Organisational context Strong understanding of political and economic factors affecting global food supplies, including trade policies, climate change, and geopolitical events Proficient in both written and oral communication, capable of conveying intricate concepts effectively Strong interpersonal and communication skills with relevant experience in engaging relevant stakeholders within and outside organisation Good degree; preferably in economics, finance, business, supply chain management, political science, international / global studies Ability to conduct data analysis and use visualisation software to enhance the interpretation and presentation of data will be an advantage Work Location: SFA HQ at JEM Office Tower http://jobs.careers.gov.sg The Singapore Public Service plays a key role in the economic growth, progress and stability of Singapore by formulating and implementing government policies, as well as providing key public services.
