Working to the protect the state’s environment and heritage.   * Internal expression of interest * Temporary full-time (up to 4 September 2026) opportunity * Office location – 4 Parramatta Square, Parramatta * Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $152,677 to $167,562 + super   Expression of Interest   Eligibility: This role is open to expressions of interest from all ongoing, temporary and casual NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water employees.   About the Role Heritage NSW is seeking Expressions of Interest for up to six-month temporary assignment opportunity within our Heritage Assessments branch. This position is currently responsible for managing the MoU Team managing Transport for NSW environmental heritage applications and advice under the Heritage Act 1977 and a team member managing Aboriginal Cultural Heritage advice and Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permits (AHIPs) under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974. Key duties include providing leadership and expert advice on heritage matters, overseeing the MoU governance, environmental heritage applications, facilitating best-practice assessments, engaging proactively with stakeholders, and efficiently prioritising high-volume tasks.   About You The ideal candidate will be an accomplished heritage professional with demonstrated leadership abilities and comprehensive knowledge of heritage assessment, historical archaeology, and the planning system. You will bring: * Proven experience leading and supporting teams in a heritage, planning or regulatory environment * Strong technical judgement and the ability to provide clear, defensible advice on complex matters * Well‑developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills * The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within timeframes A collaborative approach and commitment to capability building, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement   Knowledge and Experience * Demonstrated experience in conservation.
