Job Description: Job description Reporting to the Head, ALM Head, Philippines, the ALM Manager supports the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) function of the company. Combining actuarial expertise and investment knowledge, the role is responsible for leading the review and enhancement of the existing ALM reporting, framework and practices, and providing insight and supporting the management of General Fund, Surplus and VUL portfolios. The ALM Manager will also lead the ALM function in various projects and initiatives of the Company. Preferred skills Strong Actuarial knowledge (background in Canadian reporting standards is an advantage) Understands financial reporting concepts Basic portfolio modelling and economic analysis Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and accuracy and attention to details Strong oral and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel Experience in GGY AXIS modelling (or other actuarial modelling software) is preferred Qualifications Degree holder in Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or Finance-related course. 7-10 years’ experience in an actuarial role within a life insurance organization. Specialization in ALM / investment related functions is an advantage. Associate or near associate of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines (or equivalent). Responsibilities ALM/Investment Strategy Review: Supports the review of Sun Life Philippines investment strategies for various portfolios in accordance with Sun Life’s ALM framework Leads the ALM analysis, and coordinates with Investment and Actuarial to review the risk/return profile of the portfolios and ensure that ALM risks are appropriately considered (this includes both scheduled and ad-hoc review of the Portfolio Policies and Parameters, and Investment Strategy Review). Maintains a clear understanding of the implications of the asset strategies to the ALM limits, underlying income, reserve valuation, and capital requirements. Pricing and Product Development Support Identifies and addresses the ALM risks in the pricing of new products to support the product development process. Asset and Liability Risk Management: Leads the regular ALM management, monitoring, and reporting of Sun Life’s portfolios Monitors, identifies, assesses, and report risks associated with ALM, which include interest rate, equity, foreign exchange, credit and liquidity risks. Coordinates with Investment, Actuarial, and Finance departments to ensure ALM reports and initiatives are relevant and are done on a timely basis. Identifies any necessary changes / updates on the existing reporting templates. Provides recommendations, and implements and updates ALM measurement and reporting metrics in the ALM Business Group Operating Guidelines (ALM BGOG) or any pertinent operating guideline. Maintains a clear understanding of the company’s ALM Policies associated with ALM work (various Investment policies, risk appetite, and stress testing). Valuation, Financial Reporting and Risk Management: Provides relevant ALM support to other business functions and various Company initiatives Leads the ALM analysis required for IFRS 17 for Sun Life Philippines. Performs the review of the asset / investment assumptions used for the Canadian IFRS valuation (e.g. equity return and asset default assumptions).
